Is it possible to check whether the sensor is within the specified field strength range? (8–200 mT)
Ideally, it would be possible to read the measured field strength via a register during production in order to verify that the magnet and sensor are OK.
Is the register (Adr = 6) for defining the switching thresholds only intended for the push button interface, or can it also be used for other purposes?

Hello Michael,
Unfortunately it is not possible to get a direct measurement of the magnetic field.
As you suggested, you can use the MGH/MGL or PBI interface to detect if the magnetic field is above a certain threshold. E.g., if you configure MGHT = 3 and MGHT pin/flag is high, it means that the magnetic field is >28mT.

Dear Saraswathi,
Thank you for your inquiry.
We have now integrated a function for production testing of the assembly that varies the MGxT levels and then checks the MGH and MGL flags. This allows us to roughly determine the measured field strength and establish whether the assembly and magnets are functioning correctly.
Figure 52 in the data sheet appears to have a typo; I think the marked field should be MGLT.
Best regards,
Michael
Hello Michael,
Thank you for pointing out the typo. We’ll make sure it’s fixed.
