MA310 measureable frequency

Hi everyone,

I’m looking in the datasheet of MA310 and MA710. There is one characteristic called filter cutoff frequency, related to response time. When looking deeper in the description, I’m not sure if the sensor is able to detect angle changes (which is basically speed) faster than this given frequency, 93 Hz, which is pretty slow. Hopefully, I understand this value wrong. I’m interested in an deeper explanation what this means and if I’m able to sense speeds of e.g. 1 kHz.

Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you for posting on the MPS Technical Forum.

The MA310 and MA710 can provide accurate measurements at speeds up to 60,000rpm, or 1kHz.

The filter cutoff frequency of 93Hz is there to minimize high frequency noise. This would also be known as the -3dB point in typical filter applications.

Let me know if this makes sense, but yes, these parts are capable of measurements at speeds up to 1kHz.

Best,

Allison
