Latch off mode and Auto-retry mode

Hi, there is not much information about latch-off mode and auto-retry mode, in the datasheet that I am using : Valeo - MPQ5862-AEC1 - Published Datasheet (MPS Rev#{3} 0.8)

Is there a possibility to select between these 2 modes? If yes, how?

If not, then how are these 2 modes used in the device under which situations..?

Hi, when can I expect a reply for this question..?

Apologies for the delay on this request.

What version of the datasheet is this for the MPQ5862? It seems this revision was subject to change.

The latest revision of the MPQ5862 datasheet (Rev 1.0, dated 3/12/2025) says the following regarding the reactions of the Short-to-GND and Over-Current Protections:

It looks like in the latest version, there is only a latch-off mechanism and no auto-retry mechanism. The latch clears when the faults are also subsequently cleared as well.

If there are any issues in viewing the latest version of the datasheet, please do so on the MPS Website and log in with your MPS+ Customer Account.

Krishan

What does “cycling the power” mean and what does “reasserting the EN pin” mean? Is it like switch-off power and switch-on(power cycle)..?

Hello,

Cycling the power in this context means to turn off and on your power supply and disconnecting it from the input if possible. Ample time should be taken between turning off and on to ensure a clean startup.

Reasserting EN implies disabling and enabling the IC with the EN pin. Pay mind to the EN threshold voltages for high and low states as listed in the latest MPQ5862 datasheet.

Both of these methods are perfectly fine to perform for the latch recovery methods after all faults are cleared.

Krishan

Thanks Krishnan. How much time delay should be placed between turning OFF and turning ON of the EN pin..?

Hello,

It seems the latest datasheet doesn’t provide the exact timing here for when the EN pin turns off and then back on.

Since that rhetoric is dependent on when the faults are cleared and the timing isn’t specified in the datasheet, the EN being turned off and on again would be limited by how quick those faults can be cleared.

Best,

Krishan
