Isolating flyback with MP6005

Hi!

I have had troubles to dimension and find right parameters for 12V → 12V isolating flyback converter with MP6005.

At first jus a leading question if I am fighting with something not feasible when trying to make 12V → 12V isolation with this controller? Output current needed is 1.5A (not contiously). E.g it is difficult to find 1:1 transformer.

Hello Mika,

This should be a feasible solution with a very high efficiency.

Other than a 1:1 transformer, what else seems to be the problem in terms of dimensioning?
Is 1.5A a max threshold and how long would this case come up? What is your typical current?

MPS has an isolated DC/DC module called the MID6W2424A with a 1:1 an integrated transformer.

However, it is only capable of delivering 6W total, meaning that at 12Vin, you would receive Vout = 12V and Iout = 0.5A continuously.

I guess this would depend on how much typical current is needed. Understood if the power capability is too low here. Just figured you’d like to know in case this was something of interest.

Best,
