Is MP6541 suitable for PMSM motor with FOC control algorithm?

Hi,

We plan to select MP6541/A for 3-phanse DC sovo motor driver with FOC algorithm. We will use its SOA, SOB, SOC for phase current sensing and use them in FOC loop. Becausof its high integaration, we will place multiple 6541 chips on a board, so it can achieve high density to support multiple motors.
Is MP6541 suitable for such application? it’s pretty new.

Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,

Apologies for the delayed response.
Are you asking if there are issues with putting multiple MP6541 for multiple motors on a board? About how many would be used?

Best Regards,
Yu

Hi Yu,

Yes, we will put 3 or 4 on one board, but all of them are independent, so it’s not the key of my question. I was asking if MP6541 is suitable for PMSM motor with FOC control algorithm.

Peter

Hi Peter,

Yes, that part is suitable for PMSM applications. Feel free to check out MP6570 which is a motor controller with FOC algorithm that pairs well with that motor driver.

Thanks Yu. This is a great solution, is there any EVB(6570 pairs with 654`) we can buy for evaluation?

Peter

Hi Peter,

This is the EVB for MP6570. This EVB uses MP6530 pre-driver with external mosfets. You can take a look at the schematic in the datasheet/user guide.

If you want to test the driver, here is the EVB for MP6541A.
