I want to inquire about one of your products, the MP2658, which I am considering for a specific application. I am interested in using the MP2658 to charge two 12V lead-acid batteries connected in series, effectively creating a 24V system
The MP2658 supports various battery chemistries and offers up to 3A of charge current, which suits my needs. However, I would like more details about its efficiency and suitability for charging a 24V lead-acid battery configuration. Specifically, I am interested in understanding the charger’s efficiency at this voltage and any specific configurations or additional components that might be re
Could you please provide me with detailed information regarding the efficiency of the MP2658 when used in a 24V setup? Additionally, any guidance on circuit design or application notes related to such setups would be
Thank you for your assistance and I look forward to your prompt response
The overall efficiency would depend not only on your total output battery voltage as well as what your input would be. Since V_BATT = 24V for your case, you should expect an efficiency between 90-94% at a charge current of 3A depending on what your input as an extrapolated estimation. Please use the following graph for reference found in the MP2658 datasheet (page 10).
For detailed information on setup, it would be best to see the datasheet in more detail. Please register as an MPS+ Customer to view the full datasheet if you are no able to do so already (however it takes between 24-36 hours for account approval).
In the meantime, please take a look at the following battery charger datasheets as the specs are comparable which may provide insight on efficiencies and design insight while waiting on pending actions to view the MP2658 datasheet:
I too wanted to read the datasheet but I ain’t getting any reply from the myMPS+ account application (twice). I also. submitted an inquiry through the contact form. Please let me know if MPS is too exclusive to be used so I can move on with other manufacturers.
Oh man, let me provide you some perspective. I used to work in aps engineering, and we would literally get in trouble with the boss if we helped a customer that was too low a volume. It looks like MPS is a bit understaffed. Is there a demo board you can use and measure this yourself? If you worked for Apple, they would immediately send over a pretty sales engineer and an ugly aps engineer and stay with you till your questions are answered, but it looks like you don’t.
Do you still have a need for this datasheet and getting your account verified? Please submit a request here such that we can get those two items sorted for you if this is still something you wanted to take care of.
Based on checking the account via your email on this forum, the MPS+ status on your account appears to be active. Since you are still facing this issue, try logging into an incognito window and see if you are able to access the MP2658 datasheet.
If you are still facing issues, please reach back and we will further find out what the issue is.
Okay igcognito mode works. But I’m wondering why I didn’t receive an email for that. I did received the application notification email just that when myMPS+ account was approved, I didn’t receive any.
Thank you for getting this sorted out because this part suite very well into our application.
