High power consumption and MP28164 IC is damaged frequenctly

We are observing very high-power consumption (600-700mA) and buck boost IC being damaged when supplying through Lithium battery packs 1S (~3.7V) but not with AA battery packs 3S (same voltage)

We are writing to request a design review and discussion to understand the source of these issues. We have followed typical application circuitry and layout considerations. Here is the schematics attached for reference: Power Card 2.2.2

Please suggest the earliest suitable date and time. We operate in India (IST), so we would appreciate a time slot that is not too inconvenient for us.

Hi Abhi,

Apologies for the late response. My best guess is that the current is being limited when using the 3S AA battery pack vs. 1S lithium. Lithium has lower resistance, which may be what’s causing the high-current.
