Flyback snubber efficiency

Hi

I read your interesting article on the difference in DCM and CCM for Flyback converters.

Regarding efficiency and then need for a snubber cicruit and higher primary peak currents in the DCM case, are the power losses in the snubber circuit taken into account when saying that DCM is more efficient than CCM? Because when in my calculations for a flyback converter, these power losses in the snubber circuit is a major problem. For an 85w converter I am looking at about 6-7w power loss here, using a transformer with Pns = 10 and 1,55mH inductance, with primary I peak around 1,6-1,8 A.

Hello Thomas,

We have flyback solutions that offer CCM and DCM operation! We offer evaluation boards for you to purchase so that you can experiment with the optimal mode of operation for your application.
