Do i need to calibrate a MAG ALPHA Sensor and how would i need to do this?
Under normal circumstances, there is no need to calibrate MagAlpha sensors. The exceptions to this would be:
- A linearity requirement that is < 0.8 degrees
- A unique application using a thin ring magnet off-axis where the magnet manufacturer cannot guarantee linear magnetization
If due to one of these constraints, you need to calibrate, you can rotate your target magnet in situ and record the MagAlpha outputs against a reference encoder. Store the deltas in memory, and then the sky’s the limit as far as algorithms that can be implemented e.g. simple offset, piecewise linear, etc…
