Discharge Current with the MP2650 / EV2650-V-01A

Hi team,

I’m unable to read discharge current (IDIS values) with the EV2650-V-01A evaluation board as shown in the image below.

My current test setup goes as follows:

  • DC Power supply set to 18.5V connected to VIN and PGND of the EV2650-V-01A Input power pins
  • 4S LIPO battery with 4S1P configuration connected to VBAT and PGND of the EV2650-V-01A battery connection pins
  • I have a load circuit connected to VSYS and PGND pin of the EV2650-V-01A load connection pins

Does discharge current values found in the IDIS field of the GUI only display if OTG mode is enabled?

Hi Gabriel,
Thank you for reaching out on forum, as this request is being directly supported via email - please continue there.

For the benefit of the future folks, discharge current can be monitored without OTG enabled. Input can not have voltage supplied to it externally.

OTG (on the go) is when battery is supplying input. The direction of power delivery is reversed.

Best,
Nouman

I am in a similar situation with 4S battery. Reading register 0x28-0x29 doesn’t seem reliable. When I draw less than ~275mA from the battery I always get result 0 from reading those registers.

When more current is drawn from the battery a sort of ok result is returned. I don’t have an easy way to do good tests, but the results seems to be off by ~300mA.

Why can’t I read small discharge currents?
