Our product is currently in the testing phase. We are using the USB2534 hub IC for data transfer and device charging.

In our setup, we are connecting a pendrive or mobile phone to the downstream port of the USB2534, and an iPad, MacBook, or laptop to the upstream port. Data transfer on the downstream port and mobile charging are working well.

However, our key requirement is to enable iPad charging on the Upstream port while the iPad is connected as a host and transferring data simultaneously.

For that we are planning to use MP5031. So kindly confirm this use case is possible with MP5031 or any other proper PD IC will we more suitable to achieve this.

If it is supported, please assist with the following:

  1. A simple block diagram of the MP5031 connections is attached. Kindly review it and share any feedback or suggestions.

  1. Please provide the configuration guide for the MP5031.
  2. We are planning to configure the MP5031 using a PIC16 microcontroller over the I²C protocol. Kindly confirm if this is supported.
  3. Is there any evaluation kit available for the MP5031? If yes, please provide details.
  4. Please share any example code or reference implementation available for the MP5031.

(2) I would also like to confirm one important detail: our microcontroller runs at 3.3V. and MP5031 runs at 5V. so, to configure MP5031 usings microcontroller through the I2C, do we need to use level shifter??

(3) If we proceed without using a level shifter, what will be the expected behavior of the I2C clock line (SCL)? Will communication still function reliably, or could it cause issues? Your insights on this would be appreciated.
