Clarification on MP2619 Support for 2S2P/3S2P Battery Packs and Alternate P-Channel MOSFET Selection

Dear MPS Support Team,

I am currently evaluating the MP2619 for use in a battery-powered application and would like to clarify a few points:

  1. The datasheet mentions support for 2-3 cell Li-Ion battery configurations, but does not specifically mention series parallel arrangements.
Could you please confirm whether the MP2619 can be safely used with 2S2P battery packs.

  2. Additionally, we are considering using a low-cost external P-Channel MOSFET, specifically the Si2319DS, in place of any suggested or reference-design MOSFETs.
Could you confirm whether the Si2319DS is a suitable substitute, considering:

  • VDS = -20V,
  • RDS(on) ≈ 65mΩ at VGS = -4.5V,
  • ID = -3.6A (continuous at 25°C),
  • Logic-level gate drive compatibility?

Please advise if this MOSFET is appropriate for both 2S and 3S battery configurations or if you recommend alternatives with higher voltage margins or lower RDS(on).

Looking forward to your guidance.

Best regards,
Arun

Hello @arun2,

Welcome to MPS Forums. For 2S2P battery packs, MP2619 can be used. For the external MOSFET, can you please explain the application and the associated parameters in brief?
