Hi.
I want to use the MP6541A in block commutation mode with current chopping. I only want to use one comparator.
Is it possible to connect the outputs SOA, SOB and SOC together?
Or do i need an extra shunt with an extra amplifier in the LSS connection to ground?
Regards
Hello,
It would perhaps be best to keep the current sense signals separate for each phase, however since the pull 3-phase output would all have the same chopped peaks, then I suppose having a single comparator would technically do the job as well.
I would say the 2nd option where you have an extra shunt with an extra amplifier in the LSS connection to ground keeps the SOA, SOB, and SOC outputs separate while also being controlled by a single comparator. I would suggest this over the previous implementation as it aligns more closely with the typical application in the sense that the current sensing per phase is all separated.
Do you have the luxury of testing these two implementations?
Hello,
thanks for your answer,
yes we will test both implementations.
As we do not need to measure the phase currents separately, it would be a smaller solution with fewer components to use the internal current sense amplifiers.
