Looking through MP2760 datasheet it seems like it would be useable for Lithium Iron Phosphate battery in a 2S configuration. I want to be able to use the NVDC power path that this chip provide. Is it an appropriate part for my application or is it better to go with MP2623 and figure out how to implement a FET to do a power path for the system?
Both the MP2760 and the MP2623 are excellent options for 2 cell charging applications. It would certainly be less parts to order for your total BOM and less effort to use the MP2760 with the added 6A charging capabilities with the internal FETs.
However, the likely tradeoff for that minimized effort and overall footprint of the full solution would really just be cost. If this is the case and you would choose the very capable MP2623, then I would encourage you to contact and submit a request to help design a discrete NVDC power management system with the more in depth support of our battery focused engineers at MPS NOW Remote Support - Support.
Hope this provided some insight and a fast track moving forward in your design process.
