I’m looking for a charger IC for the battery backup solution with power path:

  • Charging 1 cell type Lithium polymer
  • The maximum power available at the input is a regulated 5V 3A
  • The system loadis up to 2.5A
  • At full power the charger must disconnect the main power to prioritize the battery

We have several 1 cell switching chargers available.
What is your end user application? Are you looking for OTG mode?

I would like to recommend MP2722 which should cover your requirements, kindly take a look at this article as well for more understanding.

We do have several other 1 cell switching chargers, that you can take a look at. Since you have a load/charge current upto 2.5A, I will not recommend using linear chargers.

Thanks for your fast response.
Maybe I caused some misunderstanding when I mentioned 5V. We do not need USB. Our system operates at 24V, and we will step it down to 5V to power both the charger and the system.

Hi vzlosnikas,

I guess in this case, I can recommend you using our standalone buck charger part MP2617H which has a power path management.

Also, FYI this part also has A & B version which has a max operating Vin of 10V and a slightly lower discharge current than H.
