MP2759 for charging 3S lithium battery from 12v supply

Hi,

i was looking for a solution to charge 3s Lithium battery pack - 12.6v max from car DC supply.
i came across the part no. MP2759 which is a buck converter.

will a boost circuit feeding MP2759 work as intended or there will be issue ?

even a simple question isnt being answered ?

Hi adiant.solutions,

Thank you for contacting the MPS Forum. The MP2759 can certainly handle higher voltage coming from a boost circuit. The device is rated for 36V input so as long as you stay under that voltage we should not see an issue.

Thanks,

This isn’t the best spot, they seem to be pushing MPS Now… Not to mention the super secret MPS Before where your design questions are answered before you even have them.

That is a darn inconvenient voltage combination. You might just try a simple buck, Car voltage is really 13.8 to 14 when the engine is on. The other thing is Li-ions get to about 85% SOC at under 4V so a decent charge can be had cheaply.
